Fee variance is due to the cost of strings and work required. For instance, bass strings are far more expensive than guitar strings. As another example, a 12-string guitar requires more bench time and more expensive strings. The base fee includes good quality generic strings. If you prefer to use a specific brand, there may be a surcharge depending on the strings chosen.
